Yahoo! interviewed MSU neurologist Amit Sachdev, MD, regarding a study that may link maintaining close friendships to a healthier brain as we age.
“They key question is if being very social leads to the brain preserving its wiring and connections later in life or if a brain that is wired more robustly to begin with leads to being more social,” he says. Still, socializing regularly can’t hurt.
Amit Sachdev, MD is a neurologist who provides care to the public at MSU Neurology/Ophthalmology in East Lansing in addition to his faculty teaching duties. He specializes in neuromuscular medicine.
